While I agree with Trump that climate/energy policy is ruinous for the US (and the world), I flatly disagree with him about expanding fossil fuel production on public lands, especially protected areas.
A wellhead that caps and controls a natural gas well takes up the same surface area as an American toilet. There are vast resources that have not been tapped found under these lands that you note. It is possible to access these resources with just a tiny amount of final surface disruption.
I personally know of a project that Shell invented and kept hush-hush, until all the methods used for recovery were protected. Their test project (in the SW US) using a circular freeze wall and the heat oil-shale found inside the frozen wall, produced the purest oil ever to come out of the earth. Oil so pure it required no refining. A side benefit of the oil coming out of and through the shale-rock.
America, like China and India, needs to use these resources wisely to continue to bring wealth and ability and abundance to all the world. These resources and methodology are going to be needed to ramp quickly as the leaders of the world see a repeat of the weather, war, famines and sickness like the 17th Century during the last Grand Hibernation (Minimum) of our Sun.

Do you even have an old GSM solar cycle prediction chart? I have a collection of all the old GSM prediction harts that are all wrong. These are the ones you guys base your entire lives on old charts that are crap.

NASA doesn’t think the Sun is going into hibernation next decade. Zarkova was wrong a long time ago, get over it.
